Big ideas start before university.
Bring your Year 12 or Year 13 students to Lincoln for a free, hands-on day of ideas, enterprise, and real-world problem-solving.
Future Entrepreneurs Day is designed to help students explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and the skills that turn ideas into action.
During the day, students will work in groups to create a business idea, explore a real problem, think about who their idea could help, and consider how it could work in practice. They will also hear from current student entrepreneurs about getting started, facing challenges, and building confidence.
It is a chance to see how university can offer more than a degree. At Lincoln, students can access enterprise support, mentoring, funding opportunities, and practical experiences that help them build skills for future study, work, and careers.
Who is it for?
Future Entrepreneurs Day is open to school and college groups in Year 12 and Year 13.
The event is relevant for students interested in business, entrepreneurship, freelancing, social impact, creative industries, innovation, or developing skills they can use in any future career.
What students will gain
Students will:
- develop a business idea in a small group
- practise problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication
- explore how enterprise skills can support any career path
- hear how current student entrepreneurs got started
- discover the support available at Lincoln, including our top 10 ranking for enabling start-up businesses*
- get a feel for university life through a campus tour.

| 10.00-10.30 | Welcome and introduction presentation | Students are welcomed to the day and introduced to the purpose of the session. This short presentation sets the context for enterprise, explains the challenge, outlines how the poster presentation canvas will work, and shares how ideas will be reviewed. |
| 10.30-11.40 | Poster Presentation Canvas: students create business ideas in groups | Students work in groups to develop a business idea using a structured poster canvas. They identify a problem, target audience, solution, positive impact, and how the idea could work in practice. |
| 11.40-11.45 | Groups submit their posters | Each group submits their final posters. They do not need to present or pitch; the panel will review the submitted ideas. |
| 11.45-12.25 | Campus tours while panel reviews submissions | Students take part in campus tours while the judging panel reviews the submitted business ideas and begins identifying groups to recognise. |
| 12.25-12.55 | Lunch while panel finalises recognised ideas | Students have lunch while the panel finalises the groups to be recognised across the award categories. |
| 1.00-1.20 | Student start-up talks | Current student entrepreneurs share short insights into their business journeys, including how they started, what they learned, and advice for young people interested in enterprise. |
| 1.20-1.45 | Student start-up panel | Students hear from a panel of student entrepreneurs and learn more about starting a business, developing ideas, and overcoming challenges. |
| 1.45-1.55 | Announce recognised groups and share quick feedback | The panel shares brief reflections on the ideas submitted and recognises selected groups across the award categories. |
| 1.55-2.15 | Close and depart | Final thanks, evaluation, and departure. |
